I have spent over a decade as an electronic technician in recording studios, beginning at Engine Music Studios in Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood, followed by 6 years as the chief technical engineer for the Smashing Pumpkins' personal recording facility, which featured 7 full-sized recording consoles and more than a dozen tape machines from the early 1950's to the modern era.
Along the way I also took on the responsibility of repairing the group's 150+ guitar amplifiers, whether for use in the studio or on tour. Those repairs inspired me to begin development of my own Balthazar line of amplifiers! I now offer repair services for amplifiers and recording gear at my spacious workshop on the Near West Side. From simple tube replacement and bias to complex "head-scratcher" amp mis-behavior, I'm here to help! I also specialize in restoring and maintaining vintage analog tape machines, outboard, and consoles, whether in-shop, or at your facility.
